it is the custom for strangers to make their first entry into a Kachin house by the front door only. To enter by any other door is a breach of etiquette.
A Kachin Home.
The houses are made of thatch and bamboo. Re-tliatching is an occasion for much ceremony and festivity. It is common to see houses 300 feet in length.
