'Uhe Shwe 'Dagn
All of gold the Temple shone, Built by great King Solomon ; All of purest gold alone Shines the mighty Shwe Dagn. Dazzling gold at purple noon, Bronze beneath the enchanted moon ; In the morning pearly grey, Leaping flame at close of daya Gold, and grey, and leaping flame, Different far, aand yet the same !
Toilers from the busy street Kneel around the Golden Feet ; By the relics in the shrine Pray for grace and light divine-All their evil deeds confess, Anger, greed, and laziness ; While above the chanted prayer, High into the fragrant air, Vast, inscrutable, alone Soars the mighty Shwe Dagn.
