Astana (Malay for grave yard) the place where the Sultan Sepoeh and Anom are buried. It is found on the road to Indramajoe near a small hill called aGoenoeng Djatia. It is built on the slopes of the hill, in the shape of a Hindu tempie. There are 7 terraces of which only the first three are accessible for Europeans. On top of the hill is saifd to be the grave of Sheik Ibu Malana one of the pioneers of the Mohammedan faith, who first preached the Islam in West Java.
A small hill station some 23 miles from Cheribon on an'altiitude of feet with a lovely climate. On the way to it some 5 miles from Cheribon is a bathing place called Linga Djati, where a Governmentas resthouse is found. Koeningan itself is a nicely situated place and a favorite resort with the inhabitants of West Java. Near the place is a small pond wiith holy fishes called Tjigoe-goer, which is well worth a visit, the fishes coming out of the water on the steps leading to it, in order to get food.
Koeningan is the starting place of the motor
road via Tjikidjing to Tjiamis, Tasikmalaja and other places in the Preanger, which road is one of the most beautiful in Java.
