After Poerwakarta, the line passes through a hilly country, and near Sasaksaat a tunnel is gone through. 1 he train for Cheribon from Tjikampek turns eastwards and, passing Cheribon runs on to Djokja, This line at present is the main line which in the near future will be the one day connection between Batavia and Sourabaya.
A small town 64 m. from Batavia and the seat of one Assistant-Resident. It is very picturesquely situated, the houses being built around a small pond in the centre of the city. It is the starting place for those wishing to visit Soebang.
A small village, 75 m. fiom Batavia. It is noted for its industry of earthenware, different specimen always being for sale at the railway station.

This route can better be described by dividing it into two parts, one to Buitenzorg and thence to Bandoeng. From Batavia to Buitenzorg (33
m). several fast trains run every day which cover the distance in a little over an hour.
The train leaving Weltevreden runs past the station Manggarai and then comes to Depok (21 m. from Batavia) which is a missionary settlement. From Depok the line gradually ascends. The country gone through is not specially interesting, presenting the ordinary features of a tropical country.
Arrival: Past Depok one sees the experimental garden belonging to the Botanical Gardens left and right of the railway track then groups of low flat white buildings come into view and a little after the station of Buitenzorg is reached. Porters, motor cars and hotel carriages are always present at the arrival of trains.
