province, a post and telegraph office, a court house, hospitals, churches, and other attractive buildings. Most of its houses are of brick roofed with tiles. The city is a port of call for the western line of the M.F. Co. Its steamers call here three times a week, and besides it there are both the M.F. Co. and Chinese launch service, operating between this city and My-tho every day except Sunday. The chief product of the region is paddy, the annual export value of which reaches $2,000,000. The next important product is fish, the annual export value of which is $15,000.
Dai-ngai is a little town at the mouth of the Ba-xuyen, on the right bank of Bassac River. It has a fairly large market and is the terminal port of the western line of the M.F. Co. Formerly, it was the capital of the Prefecture of Vinh-dinh and had a military port. The chief product of the region is rice. It produces also fruits and vegetables. There is an hotel and restaurant run by a native.
